I have Alpine Type R 6.5" components. They're great.. nice mid-bass and clean highs. I recommend you check out http://www.ikesound.com
Start listening to different speakers...go to some of the retail outlets and see what you like. Then look online. Basically, it's up to you and what you think sounds good. Everyone's ear is different, and it also depends on what type of music you listen to. What I might think sounds great may sound like crap to you, and visa versa. Spend some time in stores.
personally,
I wouldn't bother with replacing the tweeters in your dash, just cut them off.
there is nothing wrong with the design principle of coaxials, it's just that they tend to be built not as nice as separates. if you buy a nice set of separates it should come with a flush, surface, and axis (coax) mount kit.
this allows you to have the quality of a nice separate set, while still being able to mount the tweeter (axis mount) like a coax in order to get that point-source imaging. when you have the woofer in the door and the tweet in the dash, the sound is out of phase and arrives at your ear at different times from different sources. the two speakers should work as one so they should be mounted close to each other.
I am partial to boston acoustic proseries componants, but they need alot of power. if you just want a nice set to work with your factory radio, get a set of JL audio XR or VR componants (they also make coax's). they are very efficient and will play loud and clear with regular power. just spend money on the fronts and leave the rear deck alone unless they're blown.

Anyone know if 94 Front Door Speakers are 5 1/4" or 6 1/2". I got some cheapo Wal-Mart speakers that actually are nice for 20 bucks in the rear. Rear speakers are just fillers anyway (or so I've heard). They go nice with my 2 12"s. I just need fronts now.
^^^see what I said about imaging above.
also, how would you power them? wire them in series or parallel with the stock coax's from the stock headunit?
trust me just forget about them, neither the location nor the tweeters are good for anything resembling quality sound.

^^ i don't see why you can't power the coaxials with just connecting them back like stock and running them off the headunit am i missing something??
i have an alpine cd player with 45x4 and 22 x4 rms, stock separates up front, Jensen nitro 6X9s in the rear, and have 1 amp for the 10 inch JL in the trunk. it's good enough for me.
i have some polk EX series 6 1/2s laying i around my room but they don't fit
