but the more i think about it i would rather have an obd1 motor just so i wont have any problems with the computer. granted i would have to change the accord ecu to an obd1 ecu but thats ok with me. what really is the difference between obd1 and 2?

why would you have problems with the euc when the ecu matches the car? just get a 96+ jdm h22a swap...it will drop in with less wiring and less cost.

so a 96+ jdm h22 swap will cost less even know the swap for a 96+ is around 2500-3000 and a 92-96 swap is 1800-2400.
why do you have to buy more for the 92-96 swap to get it to work? like ecu and harness?

first things first...do you have inspections in your state where they'll run the numbers on the motor?? if not get a OBDI JDM H22 motor otherwise go with a USDM H22 96+ to be legal.

second..skunk2 sells a OBDII to OBDI harness, that will make life simple

third...good luck finding a 97+ JDM H22, they are nowhere to be found. online places list them, but call them and see what they what they tell you, they don't have them.

how do i know this you may ask?? the shop i go to just did a 94 JDM H22 into a 97 accord. the person wanted a 97+ JDM motor and the shop owner called eveywhere and nobody had them.

thanks man

no georgia doesnt run the numbers on the motor, just the car and thats it.

the more i think about it the more i am going to go 92-96 jdm h22a with the skunk 2 harness.

i already knew about the skunk2 harness. it will work with the 96 accord vtec ecu?

use the obdI p13 ecu with that comes with the h22 swap. you can't run the H22 properly with an accord ECU.

if they can get a 96 swap that is OBD2 but doesnt use the full obd2 wiring yet....the 96 is the best for you car with teh obd2 ecu.

the way i see it...you spend say $2300 on your odb1 swap, then spend $200+ on the ecu adapter 9which will need to be modified further since it is for a civic/teg) and then you will need to do a lot more rewiring (higher cost if a shop does the swap), plus there is more potential for wiring mishaps.

i think either way you'll pay more for a OBDII swap labor wise. I just think a 97+ USDM H22 is so much more money and finding a 96 P13 is difficult and $$$. in either case an experienced shop should have no problems with the wiring. i guess the problem is, how good are they??
