Default stock shocks/coilovers

i am going to be lowering my 99 LX sedan, putting coilovers on it, but i have a question about the stock shocks on the 6gen----do the stock shocks have a rubber stopper on them anywhere so as they do not allow full compression, or are they able to travel free? eventually, i will be putting either koni or tokico shocks on, but just wanted to figure out if it is bad to leave the oem shocks on or if the ride would be extra harsh... thanks for the help:drunk:

You can leave em on but your gonna hate the ride and strut failure i going to happen quickly.

You will have horrible bounce in your ride...no handling...ad it may lead to further problems in your suspension.

2 inches will put some strain on the stock shocks. I rode on stock shocks for 2 years while lowered 1.75F, 1.5R, no problems. Shocks held up fine. But I've heard other stories of them blowing out prematurely.

And to answer your original question, yes, the stock shocks have rubber bump stops that will prohibit full travel of the shocks. Some people trim them, I never did. H&R recommends not trimming the bumpstop with their Sport springs on our cars.

If you use and aftermarket springs with OEM shocks your car will have bouncy ride, and the OEM shocks will blow after 1-2year because the stock shocks are not ment to handle the short stroke and the higher spring rate. . So I would recommand getting coilover sleeves with Koni Yellows would be the ideal setup. By the way what kind of Coilover Sleeves are you getting?

geez, i'm late again, get full coilover for better comfortability. Stock shocks won't handle your 2" well, will be very bouncy, bang your bottom, and will blown soon.
