How cold is the A/C suppose to be?
I know it's a stupid question, but my A/C compressor just recently been replaced. It's much cooler than before but I still feel it's not cold enough, so I went out and get myself a thermometer. I placed that into the vent and it read around 40F while the A/C was in the coolest setting. Is it normal or it could be cooler? Thanks.
40 degrees? damn, that's cold. i'm not too sure how cold you wanted to run it, but try closing the fresh air vents and re-circulate the cabin air, that will make things even cooler.
I think generally A/C is supposed to blow air roughly 40-50F cooler than the ambient temperature, so on a really hot day, it's not going to get super-cold, or, the actual temperature won't be super-cold...but it's all relative
40F sounds fine. My old 88 accord A/C actually ran at 36F  and the tech guys at Honda were amazed at that. I got rid of that car for my 6th gen one. Ahh....sometimes I miss that car.............sometimes.
A/C should be 20' lower than the otuside temperature. But this must be measured with a laser thermometer.
Ive had my a/c serviced many times, at various shops, and this is what ive gotten in response each time.

Yeh 40F is good and cold. On my old '85 Cougar, on a hot day the A/C would only be like 65F with the system being in top working condition. But as soon as I put it on max a/c (recirculate) the temperature dropped to about 40F and really started cooling.
damn i dont kno about you guys, but my ac gets to a point where it feels like im going to freeze to death if kept on for a long enough time period. Mine works a little too strong, which i do not like.
