Default driver's side door won't open on 4th gen

I’m totally locked in my 91 Accord. For some reason the driver’s side door just won’t open anymore. It was working fine and all of a sudden, when I tried to get out, it won’t open. I tried opening from the inside and from the outside. I’ve even had a friend pull from the outside, while I push from the inside. I’ve been driving the pass few days crawling in and out of my passenger’s door and it sucks. Anybody have any ideas of what this might be, and how to fix it? I defiantly don’t really want to go to the dealer if possible….

that happend to my wifes car. the electronic door lock is in the closed postion. The lock actuator or something like that A common prob in 4g ( I hear) The only way to get it fixed is to take it to a Honda dealer or a mechanic that specializes in hondas. My wife has been in/out of the pass side for about 2 years now. This will probably cost you 300-450. cause they have to unhinge this from inside. good luck

if you are feeling up to it you can do it yourself but it takes time.
what hapens is the mechanism inside the latch breaks and the only way to get it open is to cut open the latch here's how.
1) remove the drivers seat from the car.
2) carefully remove the door panel .
3) take out the lower runchannel towards the rear of the door.
4) remove whatever else you can you can gain access to the back of the latch.
5)get out a drill and drill a series of holes through the first plate of the latch if you go to far you will go through the other side of the latch, through the doo, through the jam and so on.
a die grinder helps here also but basically you have to remove the hole mettal plate so you can gain access to the inner mechanisms untill you can get them out and the door will just release.

Make no mistake about this its time consuming and a bitch but if you take it to the dealer thats basically what we have to do so if you can do it yourself you will save a lot on labor.
