I am thinking about doing this before I get my car painted. I saw a black one today and it looked nice until i got up to it, and they just painted the tails black. Will just welding metal a similar shape to the tail lights in and bondoing over rough edges be good enough? And what type of welding would you suggest...someone said do tack welding for something or else the metal will warp. If you had it done @ a shop, how much did it cost?

bondo is heavy and may crack down the line; howeva, welding is faster and will last longer. most likely if they weld it they arc weld it (depending on the shop) and then take a axle grinder to the bead pior to preping and painting ova it
