I drive a 99 LX sedan, and am getting 17's soon. Not trying to spend a huge amount of money, since my cars paint job is magnetically attracted to shopping carts and pickup doors, but i found a company called 'RS Racing' that makes a konig tantrum copy called the RS 123. just wondering if anyone has any experience with them or know if they are a reliable company. also, has anyone had a 205/40/17 tire on their accord? ---thanks

 

never heard a thing about the RS quality, but be sure to have your drop prepared. 17's will make any accord look like an SUV.

Haha, that's kind of a good question, I always wondered that myself. I'm pretty sure you don't, but it almost sounds like you would... I'm not sure how a spedometer exactly works, though.

 

The difference should be minimal so I wouldn't worry about it. You can always guesstimate by placing the your stock wheel and tire next to your new rims and tire and see if there is to much of a height difference between them. Also, any decent shop will tell you if you need to adjust you odometer when you get the new rims.

*Note the the stock tire size for a 99 Accord LX is 195/65/R15

As you can see, the differences are very small. Shorter means that the speedo will run a but faster than you are actually going, but not by much, and vice versa. I went from 195/65/R15 to 225/45/R17, they are exactly the same overall diameter and I didn't change my speedo.
