Not that it helps now but on the new one, get glass break on your insurance.

From what Ive heard, you would not be wise to skimp on a replacement. If those suckers aren't sealed well you will be swimming during rain.

I don't, and how do you figure it's gonna run me 600-700$? I've found companies that'll do it for 300. A friend of mine got her's done for 200 on her Contour. Never heard of it costing 600-700 bucks.

Yeah that's more like it, randomtask. I don't quite understand how you guys are paying 600+... I'm looking for something around 200.

Well, even though Ive never been through it so I dont really have a gague on pricing, Im willing to bet it's a lot like a paintjob.....you can get ones for under $1000 but the really reliable, high-quality ones are 3,4 and 5 grand. And just like the $1000 will fail/chip before the 3,000, my guess is that there are differences in glass and glues that would cause failure of a windshield sooner too. I can be completely wrong, this is just the only way I can imagine to explain such a price difference. Same goes for computer parts....cheaper will cost you more on the long run.

I guess that would be true to a certain extent. But the windshield place that replaced my friends was recommended by most insurance companies as "OEM" windshields. It's just that she went to them directly rather than dealing with insurance.

Well one thing you need to remember about insurance companies is that they are in it for the money, not quality of work. They dont give a rats butt what they put in your car as long as it will pass inspection. I just dont trust anyone who requires me to go to a certain person. What I normally do is get their estimate...take it to the place I want, get it done there, pay there difference if there is any. Im just a firm believer in stuff being done right the first time.
