Default motor oil question

I am building a new motor w/ turo & direct-port nos & I'm wondering what motor oil to use. Mobil1, Castrol Syntech, or what?

Also, what weight? I live in TN & it'll be parked outside in the winter.

Thanks for your suggestions!!!!

I would have to say Mobil 1 fully synthetic 5W-30, but if you could get your hands on Redline Oil, that's probably the best you can get. I'm no expert in this field, so this is just my opinion. I use Mobile 1 in my 6th gen. sedan

wal-mart oil is the same as every other oil in stores, the only difference is the price, the name and the claims.

mobil-1:thumbup:

the main difference between store bought oil is additive packages. the cheap walmart stuff will do the job, but if your driving hard i would much rather use an oil with a superior additive package like mobil 1 has.

is that true? then why is vavoline so much lighter (in color) than the rest?

i'm on guam and it's always in the 70 to 90 degree weather here... i just changed my oil today with vavoline 10w30...

I use Mobil 1 Tri-Synthetic 5W-30 and it works well. But having the mods you listed you might want to try their redline variant.
