Default powder coating rims

i know you can powder coat the stock alloys and all that jazz, but can you powder coat chrome wheels? i'm starting to get sick of having to polish out the bling bling every couple days.

i believe it's possible. have you seen that show on discovery channel about choppers? well anyways i was watching how they took a chrome wheel to a powder coating specialist and they hooked it up really nice. it was for the black widow chopper, if you ever seen it.

Those black widow wheels were just polished billet aluminum...

I don't know how they remove chrome in the first place, but if it's anything like bead blasting then you should be able to get the chrome blasted off and the powdercoat applied.

So the answer would be. You should be able to get them powdercoated. But why don't you call some powdercoating places and ask them... Don't be surprised if it costs $50-150 per wheel though...

your right, i ws half asleep when i was watching it. it was interesting though. how they cut it(rim) out with the machine and all. i'm pretty sure they can strip the chrome off and powder coat it.

a buddy of mine powder coats wheels and he said it's easier to do when the chrome is already on there.

I second that question... My stock rims could definitely use some cleaning up, I don't care how... Maybe powdercoating would help a lot... WHta kinda places do that?
