There's so many thing to fail, you can't just go by what happened to someone else. One guy has a really slow leak so he adds a can of refrigerant every year and he's good.

Trouble is, the next guy has a plugged expansion valve. He doesn't measure high & low side pressures, he just adds a can of refrigerant. So his compressor explodes. Then he's angry at the world because HAN gave him bad advice.

You have to DIAGNOSE. You have to check stuff, measure stuff to find out what's broken on YOUR car.

OK, I'll quit ranting now.

Since this thread started out asking what has happenned to our cars, here's mine. I had a very slow leak in an '89 Saab, right where a hose made a crimped transition to a metal tube. I haven't had any AC trouble with my current cars, yet...

I agree totally with JimBlake. You need to have your particular car's problem diagnosed. It could be anything from a small leak to the temp control unit being bad to a failed compressor coil etc..

Although if I were to take a very educated guess, if it's the 94 accord and you have never had the Product Update for the replacement of the A/C condensor done, that is probably where you will find a leak. Take out the grille and shine a light down at the condensor, you will most likely see big circular "wet spots" on the condensor. If the update has been done, it could be anything. Just a suggestion. The update affected all 94 and most 95 Accords.

my car had no A/C in it when I got it. Add a can of R134 and a can of oil and I was good to go but this summer the A/C was gone again. So this time my mechanic did a check on the system and said that there is a lieak somewhere but he doesn't know where. He said if it was behind the dash it would be expensive. So he got me can of R134 Stop Leak. He siad it isn't the best thing but it will stop the leak for the time being. and 2 cans of R134 and one can of oil and she is ice cold baby. Retards like a mutha****er though. Turn my A/C on feels like I shifted into another gear;o)

Fast cycling of the system (clutch cutting in and out) is generally a sign of low charge. If the clutch won't engage at all it probably means that that you have such a low charge that the low pressure switch is preventing the compressor from kicking in and burning itself up.
