Speaker Plates?

what year and trim level are you talking about.

ive got a 91 ex. i just replaced the stock 6x9s with pioneers. i had to shorten the ends of the trunk springs because the pioneers are deeper than the older ones.

sounds tho like your problem is an incompatible hole size...

nah the hole is big enough.. i have a LX which came with 6.5" speakers but i have 6x9s now.. nd4speedm1 has it right with what the problem is.. i just want to find some plates or something to save myself the time of doing it myself (aka wrong)

i don't think you are going to find any plates that will exactly fit your new speakers because all have different sizes. You're gonna have to make some like i did. Its really not hard at all. Go to home depot and get some mdf or particle board stuff. draw the outline of the speaker shape onto the particle board with a pencil along with necessary screw holes. Cut that out, and you should have a big plate that looks like the top of the speaker. Now take an educated guess and draw another line like you did before (shape of the speaker top) but actually on the inside of the plate. You wanna get it so that when you cut out the inside all you will have left is a ring that your speaker will fit through. I wish i could be more detailed with pics and stuff but its a pain to take all that crap out again...its not hard once you start doing it.

yo, this really isnt a huge deal, i made plates for my 6x9s that fit in the holes out of 10 bucks in masonite from home depot. It doesnt take long, i was gonna post a DIY a while back but I never got around to it. . .this question keeps poppin up though, so maybe ill do that. . .

you dont need the boxes, make plates, one hour, 10 bucks, you cant go wrong
