Default Tire swap

I have the stock 15x7.5 rims with original 195/65/15 tires. Am thinking of getting 215/60/15s and putting them onto these rims. Has anyone done this? It seems the height is almost same while being ¾” wider:

195/65/15 = 7.68” Wide x 24.98” High vs. my proposed
215/60/15 = 8.46” Wide x 25.16” High

The car should handle better with this setup… will I be able to mount the tire onto the rim though?

Thanks,
M

http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

Use the above calculator....

195/65/15 = 25-in
215/60/15 = 25.2-inch

Pretty damn close to the stock size! Go for it!

What about the width? Will it fit on the rim? Its 3/4" wider then the stock tire.

I think you guys are right, my rims are not 7.5 wide. I did not measure them, I just guessed.

So if they are 5.5 wide then the 215 would be way too wide?
