Don't get the B&M shifter adapter--
I had that on my gen6
It kept coming in and hitting my console(in reverse and 5th gears)--B&M said to trim the console.
There was no way I was cutting up my console for a stupid shift kit. I've had a bad taste in my mouth since then and never got another one.

Get a 92-96 lude shifter installed. It's about 1 inch shorter so it looks sweet and the shifts feel more natural. It doesn't really shorten the shift much if at all, but I think that's a better choice than dealing with short shift adapter problems like notchiness and hitting the console.
