Well this is my sisters car, and today she said the speedo stopped working then it worked then it shut off again. At the same time the D4 light blinks on the dash, and the check engine light was going on and off.
She said the car drove fine (comming from her). My dad took it to a shop before i got home so i didnt get a chance to run the code. Anybody got an idea what this could be?

Well the Speedo not working and the flashing D4 indicator indicates that the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) is bad. But it shouldn't have shut off because of that. She most likely has two seperate problems. You'll have to wait and see what code the ECU throws.

 

Speed Sensor. It just happened to mine a month or so ago. Check if theres any coolant leaks by the bottom of the window under the hood. I had a blown coolant gasket that caused coolant to leak on my speed sensor and mess it up. New speed sensor's are pretty expensive, but it's a pretty easy part to install (I didn't do it, but my friend fixed it all for me and he said it wasnt hard).
