HELP: Clean up the mess on my paint!
Wash with hot water to loosen it up a bit. Dry it. Claybar it. If claybar doesn't work try an abrasive polish like Meguiars Dual Action Cleaner Polish with some kind of buffer. If that doesn't work, go to an auto detailer. Good luck.
While we are talking about getting stuff out of paint, how do you get the little swirlies out of the paint ? This os the first Black car I have had and never had this problem before. Is it just inherent to black paint ??
Thanks,
Mike
Thanks,
Mike

To remove swirls you can use Meguiars Swirl Remover #2 or for a bit more heavy duty there is Meguiars Fine Cut (machined applied) then you work up from there to Medium Cut and Heavy cut (Seek a pro when using the last two methods). Start with the lightest method first.
www.meguiars.com has alot of great detailing information. Check it out.

When drying, the best thing to use is a chamois. I had my car painted this year and when I'd wash it I'd use one, no swirls for months. Then I was lazy one day and didn't feel like finding my chamois and just dried it off w/a 100% cotton towel and guess what, I've got swirls now:angry:
Stick w/ a chamois, it'll soak up more water and won't leave swirls:thumbup:

The second reason is heat is generated as you drag the chamois across the surface of your paint.
With a 100% cotton bath towel, any dirt that is still left on your paint after washing, and before claying is picked up between the fibers of the towel, similiar to a 100% terry towel. Why do you think the Terry towel is rough, it is made to remove, without dragging the dirt across the surface of the paint. The 100% cotton bath towel is also a great water absorbant.
With over 6 years detailing experience, and over $400 invested in detailing products, I know what works and what is better. I do agree that chamois is made to dry, but I'm not scratching my paint surface when dragging a chamois across the surface of my paint.

The less direct contact you have with the surface of the paint prior to claying is the key to less swirl marks and scratches.
Thanks Guys I appreciate it. I have a feeling it is my sponge. I use 100% cotton to dry and when using Mequiars quick detailer...
I'll hunt down some of that swirl remover..I imagine autozone or advanced auto would have it...Maybe even Walmart.
Any other things I should look for ? Like I said before, this is my first dark car and I suppose I just never noticed before !!
