Default 93 Accord Caliper Bracket ?

Hi everyone. I have a 93 Accord 4 door sedan with rear disks. I had to drill out the caliper bracket bolts (bracket to spindle bolts) because they were seized. I installed a new bracket, but had to use the #6 fine thread that were available at my parts store. I bought two different lengths. The correct length bolt was fine for the top one, but could not be maneuvered into place on the bottom because it was to long and was hitting the (lower control arm?). I was able to fit a shorter bolt in there, but I feel that it isn't getting enough threading. Has anyone else had this problem? Also would OEM bolts fit (the original bolt was 14mm and the one I used has a 17mm head) without this problem or do I have to take that arm off to get the new bolt in?
Thank you
