Two problems -- any ideas? Steering noise and engaging reverse
I have a 1999 Accord EX (4cyl) with 76,000 and two semi-persistent problems.
1. When the car is cold (and generally when it is cold outside), when I turn the steering wheel all the way to either side, as if exiting a parking spot, there is a squeaking, throbbing sound that generally goes away relatively quickly and does not happen again, until the car is cold and I turn the steering wheel all the way.
Is this likely a belt or steering pump issue? I had the power steering fluid replaced at a dealer two years/10,000 miles ago. They didn't say there was a problem and have had other check-ups during routine service and nothing was identified, but then again it only happens when the car is cold and generally when it is cold outside.
2. Sometimes when I start the car and put it in reverse, it doesn't fully engage and it does not accelerate in reverse until I put it in another gear and then back into reverse? Again, this doesn't happen all the time, but has no obvious correlation.
Any ideas would be great. Thanks!

B)If it's a manual then you're probably just hitting the lockout. you have to go straight from neutral into reverse, if you even loosely push towards 5th and then to reverse it's not going to engage. It's a safety.
