Default When to change timing belt?

Ok, this may show how much mechanical knowledge I have of my accord, but do I have a timing belt or chain? When should I change it? I'm at 150,000 miles right now and I was thinking it might be time.

Damn. How much is this going to set me back? Remember, I'm a college student.

You have a timing belt. Depends on what year, '90-'02 4-cylinder also has a balancer shaft belt. Change them every 90K miles or 6 years, according to Honda.

I can't say exactly on ur car, but mine on my 94 Accord LX costed me about $350 and they used all Honda parts, they changed the timing belt, balancer belt, all drive belts and water pump.

It's WAY cheaper than new pistons & valves.

I recomend only changing your timing belt and outside belts @90K . You really do not need to change the counter balance belt becuase it does take much force. However, your second replacement should come round 150 to 170 thousand and you should change all belts including your counter balance belt. Also you should replace your water pump at this time becuase it is about to go.

I'm thinking of getting my major maintence done soon since I hit 65,000 miles. Its a 96 Accord. So even though its 65K its 7 years. I rather be safe then sorry.
