Default possible ecu failure

i have a 2000 honda accord. the car has almost 140,000 miles and up until recently, the car has ran great with no problems. About 3 times over the last month, I will come to a stop sign, and when I try to accelerate, the car makes a sound like it is trying to accelerate but doesn't move at all, and then suddenly jerks forward. yesterday, the check engine light came on and I took the car in to autozone, where they ran a test and said that the error code p1607 suggested an electrical or ecu problem. however, other than this the car runs very smoothly. would those symptoms be characteristic of ecu failure? and would problems just get worse if i dont' get it fixed quickly?

engine control unit (ECU), also known as power-train control module (PCM) ... this sounds exactly like that's happening.
