i would get it. better safe than sorry. Even California had some big puddles recently and a bypass valve would give u peace of mind i guess.

taken from personal experience the by pass is worth every penny i have one in my ride and its proven to be the best safety mod u can get. i've driven in some very poor areas where the water backs up and with my car so low i did get water in the pipe. my car started to make a werd swooshing would then a gurgling sound. i pulled ova and pop'd the hood the bypass was wet but that was about it. my filter was totally soaked. i made it home just fine w/o any worries. i even pop'd off the whole intake system to see if any water got passed the bypass valve and none did. if ur ride is low just get it cuz u never know where u gonna drive one day for me its everytime i drive out to 5town or far rockaway in queens for some1 else it could be outta state. just get it

Yes but like I said, I'm on stock height... I really cant think of any times in which water reaches half way up my tire.

I would get one if i were you. My friend put an CAI on his teg, before he put it on he was all like "nah as long as i don't drive into any big puddles..." but now hes so paranoid he barely drives it in the rain if he can help it. An extra $60 is better than the thousands you could be spending to rebuild your engine.

Also, sometimes you might not be able to avoid going through a puddle. Lets say if its raining out real hard, theres lots of traffic and you see a huge puddle about 15 feet away. No time to stop so you gotta go through...

I don't plan on submerging half my bumper under water...do you?

I too live in Oregon where it rains more than it doesn't and have never had a problem. As long as you keep up with the maintenence of the filter and keep it well oiled it shouldn't be too much of an issue.

Just stay out of deep puddles

I'm starting to lean towards one, but what kind of gains will I lose because of it? I mean if I only gain say 8 whp from the intake, and that could be way off... I don't know, how much of that would the bypass valve take away?

the lost would be minimal..considering that the CAI gives abt 3-4 hp, u might lose like 0 - 1 hp depending on luck....
