Maintenance
Who brings their cars in to the dealer for routine maintenance?
I think that the 15000 mile service is like 300 bucks. I thought they said that they adjusted the valves. 300 dollars to fix a brand new car that isn't broken seems pretty stupid. Check brakes, belts, etc. I have gone to the dealer for lof so far because its only 20 dollars but I think they are just trying to get me hooked on their crack.

I'm assuming with only 15K miles you probably have an 01 or 02. If that is the case, there is no valve adjustment at 15K miles. The first time scheduled maintence occurs on the valves is 105K miles.
The 15K maintence is basically oil and filter, and then just inspect and examine everthing else like brakes, belts.

Check your owner's manual, and unless you drive like grandma, only on the freeway, warm up the engine, and run at least thirty minutes each trip, then look at the "Extreme driving conditions" section. If you have an auto tranny (here I go again
) then you should change the fluid every 15K, manuals 15-30K, both with the HONDA fluid. The valves should be adjusted when they start making noise, or at 30K. Brake fluid should be done every 24 months or 30K, same with coolant. It's a good idea to check the brakes every 15K just to make sure that everything is operating properly and wearing evenly. When getting your oil changed, ask for the 15400-PH1-014 filter instead of the smaller 15400-P0H-xxx filter, as thePH1 is larger and filters better.

I checked my manual, it says to check the valve clearance at 105k and adjust if noisy. The dealer gave me a little schedule to follow and that says to check and adjust the valve lash every 15k, I'm all set with that. Thanks for the detailed post Kabuki.
