Default 4th gen Automagic fluid color?

Hey all, my tranny has been shifting a little more rough than usual. Then again maybe I'm just paying attention to it too much since I haven't had a radio in the car for some time, but that's another story....

So I checked out the level of the transmission fluid, and the level was fine. The color however was sort of a rusty orangy color, but it was clear (i.e. no particles). So is that the correct color? I can't remember when the tranny was last flushed.

Thanks!

Yep, always serviced at Honda since the car was bought new in '92

I think the color was hard to see, because I checked it at night in the parking garage.

The 4G Accords do shift more firmly than the 5G and 6G Accords (experience with all 3) but smoother than the 2G that I had. Be sure your motor mounts are all good and take your car to the local Honda House for a tranny drain/flush/fill/fairy dusting. Should cost about $50 or so and they can tell you if particles came out in the fluid and if the fluid is the correct color or not. I do mine every 30K miles, with currently with 130K on the car I have yet to have a tranny problem (although the radiator is a different story alltogether (3 of em!)).

Come to think if it, I think my motor mounts may have seen better days. The motor moves quite a bit when shifting from park to reverse with the brake on. Does this affect the shift quality? What other damages can occur by having bad motor mounts?
(Other than the engine torquing itself off the mounts completely )

Funny, I am still on my first radiator, but my condensor fan will squeel like an air raid siren every now and then.. Go figure.. That's another issue though.

Thanks for the advice!

I would suggest that the next time you get an oil change (thats if you dont do it yourself) ask the oil shop for a second opinion.

Also, yes my 4th gen shifts mad hard, on ALL gears. Feels like a manual at times...guess its juss a manual at heart

Default Tranny fluid

ALL HONDA AUTO TRANSMISSIONS SHOULD HAVE THE FLUID REPLACED EVERY 15K!! ONLY WITH THE HONDA ATF!!! Where can I post this so I won't have to post it again every couple of days?
