Default MP3 Head Unit

OK, million dollar quesiton.
On my 03 Accord w/NAV I have the install scheduled for tomorrow on their MP3 player....$500.
This is on top of the 6CD in dash changer that it comes with. Im wondering if I couldnt just change the head on that player instead of adding the MP3 player. The only thing Im scared of is messing with the GPS and all that other good stuff, since it is all integrated. Any thoughts? Anyone know if there is a way around this. Can I simply change the head unit? I cant stand normal CDs......I have to change disks soo many times during a long drive instead of just having 1 disk with 140-180 songs.

I know the GPS is tied into the radio since it speaks to you. (If you dont have the pin for the stereo, the GPS's voice wont work...freaky).

first off is the headunit in a seperate space or are the controls part of the navi system.
if it is a seperate peice it depends on the company of the headunit that honda puts in that car. it might just be an aux output or something like that. not positive best bet is 2 ask the dealer how it is hooked up.

Controls are part of the navi system. All is integrated which is why I think Im stuck with Honda proprietary parts in this case.

How about buying a 10 Gb iPod for $399 and an FM modulator. You'd still be under $500. You could carry your entire music collection that way, instead of only 150 songs.
