Default Removing 5th gen stock tape deck?

Whats up guys. I am the newbie in the 5th generation accord world! I know 3rd gen accords from top to bottom, but I just got a new 5th gen. My number one delimna is I need to remove the stock tape deck to put in my mp3000 deck. I dont see any release screws or anything directly holding it in (the trim peice). Do the stock decks have an annoying screw holding them to the chassis? Is there a simple way to remove things? I have a feeling the trim peice needs to come off first, am I correct about that one?

Just need some pointers on getting that ugly stock thing out of there!

Thanks!

Nate.

This may be better served in Audio but here goes.

The 5th gen requires the removal of the center trim around the stereo.

To do this loosen the 2 or 3 screws inside the console/armrest then remove the screws at the shifter area and behind the ashtray there is one to remove.

Then delicatley pull on the trim piece and it should begin to pop out and you can remove the stereo at that point.

Take your time and make sure you check for any missed screws by pulling slowly and checking for hang ups in the removal of any parts.

Hope it helps some.

1. remove armrest console by pulling out the cup holder, unscrew 3 screws, undo 2 more screws in the compartment under the armrest (under the plastic cover).
2. remove the black middle trim piece: 2 screws on the bottom towards teh rear of the car, one behind the ashtray. tug on it, unclip the cig. lighter, clock and hazard switch.
3. remove the radio by the 2 screws underneath it

Got it, thanks!

Did any of you need an aftermarket mount kit? I have the plate that fits around the cd player, it looks like the 1 din cd player is going to fit fine......but I wanted to make sure first. Is there an easy place to find an wiring harness? I dont know if walmart would carry a 96' accord harness or not.....Not like I need something really high tech. I know they carry super cheap harnesses.

Nope no adapter needed for the face section but the best is to use the wire adaptor for direct plug and play ease.
