Default '03 Door speaker replacement

Has anyone replaced the OEM front door speakers? Was shocked to find the one piece "cage" contraption. Looking for something to allow the replacements to fit/attach nicely. thanks

What size are the stock door speakers? I know the backs are 6 x 9.

TIA!

they're 6.5". I handled the problem today with 1"
spacers. Had to put a few holes in the metal to mount the spacers but the fit is perfect.

I'm thinking about replacing the stock front door speakers in me 01 EX. Don't like the muddy mid range, even at 25% volume.

So, did you find the improvement worthwhile? What brand and model of speakers did you use?

Pioneers. Not the best as far as what audiophiles
post in these forums, etc. but I think it greatly improves the sound. Had a '98 Ex and the replacement was easy. Had to replace the HU and did so with a Pioneer. That was like night and day. For Under $300 you could do both and you'd be amazed. Not even considering that for my new one though

I am the owner of an 03 EX V6 sedan. I recently replaced all four speakers in the vehicle. In the front I went with a 6.5 coaxial Polk Audio and left the stock tweeters in tact.

The rears are also Polk and they are 6 x 9. Factory fronts didnt look too bad but the rears were absolute garbage.

In total spent about $250 including install and the sound difference is simply night and day!
