Brake pads
It's time to buy a new set of brake pads. After doing some reading on this board I've determined that I probably want some AEM pads. Anyone know the price for both the fronts and rears for the AEMs, and how they compare to OEMs and other brands? Also, a retailer in the GTA would be nice. I've had no luck searching for a Canadian seller on the net.
I won't be doing the install myself, I'll have it done for me. But I'm curious to know when bleeding the brake lines is necessary. From what I've read I have the impression it's necessary when the brake fuild is old. How old? I have a 99.

As for the install. I'd say try doing it yourself. I did a DIY write-up for the front brakes in this thread if you are interested:

As far as the brake fluid...you are supposed to change it every 45K miles, so I'm sure you are getting close if not past the 45K mile mark. Might as well do it when you change your pads.

I would only get AEM pads if you are looking for a pad that will perform like stock. If you want better bite w/o sacrificing streetability go with some axxis metal masters. If you want even more bite go with axxis ultimates. The ultimates, however, might squeek a little bit and will put out more brake dust.
Also, I doubt you will need rear pads already. Just get fronts and save your money.
just my 2cents

The reason I suggested that is because most aftermarket brake pads will produce more dust than OEM.
I guess you could get those "lifetime warranty" ones at autozone, etc. I hear those compounds are so hard it takes years and years to wear down. Braking will probably be compromised though.

Have you considered EBC's green or red stuff brake pads? I hear they're pretty good. Portfield RS4 is not bad either, but has a drawback that they need to be heated up before they really work. I believe Brembos use RS4 or that's the pad that my friend has on his brembo kit anyways. Then there is the Endless pads...those are supposed to be pretty good, albeit they are pricey and you have to do a slight modification to them to make them fit.

Hawk HPS have very low dust. I don't car about dust tho cause i got gunmetal rims - hehe
i have the aem pads upfront and if you want a oem type pad that performs a little better than they are very good. the dust is light colored and i don't think it throws much anyways. i got them from nopi along with brembo blanks.
a good cheap pad is wagner, i had those upfront before my rotors warped and they are my rear pads too.
