Default Synthetic Oil

I have an 03 Accord and Honda is using 5-20 oil for their newer models. I plan on using synthetic oil after 8-10K miles. Do you know who makes 5-20 synthetic oil or if it's available?

Mobil has 5-30 and 0-30. I may have to go with 5-30 oil if 5-20 is not available. Any negatives with using 5-30 oil?

Thanks,

5W20? Never heard of that.

Depending on temperature get the oil best of the temperature. However I do recommend Mobil 1 Trisynthetic 5w30:thumbup:

jdm civic- 5w-20 is a motor oil honda has been using in it's new cars since the new civic came out. it's mainly for emissions and gas mileage. supposedly honda says the tolerances in the newer motors are so close that a thin oil is necessary.

anyways, i have yet to here of a synthetic 5w-20. i have been using the honda stuff in my girls 02 civic. i plan on using it till 36k, for warrantee sake. i asked this question at po.com and a honda mechanic reccomended i think it was the mobil 1 0w-30.

Mobil 1 is coming out with a 0W-20 sometime.
I believe Amsoil & Royal Purple produce 5W-20.

Redline produces 5w20 also. I used it, but it's not worth it. 5w-30 is still the prefered oil. The 5w20 is only beneficial for colder weathers...in where I live (sunny san jo) it's not really necessary. 5w-20 also will not offer the same protection to your engine as 5w30 is and even though Honda/Acura recommends it, I would go with 5w30. I'm currently using that in my car...Redline 5w30.
