v-tec STANDARD?

Default v-tec STANDARD?

iM currently in teh market for 1994-1995 accord ex.
I want an accord that has v-tec but i haven't been able to tell if
v-tec was Standard or OPTIONAL on 1994 ex sedans or 1995 ex sedans. It would help me out a ton with looking through ads if i knew. Thanks beforehand for taking teh time to read this .

Its Vtec, no little dash thing. But aside from that, it was not optional. The EX came with vtec, and the DX and LX did not...

Yup, all the US 5th Gen 4-cylinder EX have VTEC. Look at the valve cover and it should say "VTEC".

VTEC doesn't do much for your car, so don't worry about it. SOHC VTEC is for economy and smoothness.

well in that generation VTEC does alot SOHC vtecs are alot more powerful than people give them credit for. the newer ones the SOHC doesnt say much

just make sure u look for a I4 94-54accord EX if u want VTEC since the 95 EX also came in a V6

like the 240hp sohc v6 in the 7g? :naughty: or the 260hp sohc cl-s?

i thought the 7gen V6's were DOHC if not theres alot of torgue being lost by not going DOHC ova the SOHC

SOHC is generally smoother and quieter in operation, and DOHC helps for high revving engines. So the only potential power loss would be from if they wanted a higher redline to make more power.

5th generation

DX, LX = SOHC no-TEC
EX = SOHC VTEC
V-6: SOHC no-TEC


6th generation:

DX: no-TEC SOHC
LX, EX: SOHC VTEC
V-6: SOHC VTEC

7th generation:

DX, LX, EX: DOHC i-VTEC
V-6: SOHC VTEC
