Default Auto-RX & Engine Oil

I have a 1997 Honda accord with 196k miles. My oil seems to be very dirty when i change my oil every 3k miles. Does this seem like engine slugde if so does anyone have any recommendations on how to get my oil cleaner? maybe a oil engine flush? I've heard that you shouldn't get an engine flush. I've been doing some searching and found Auto-RX has anyone used this before? Any recommendations or help would be great, Thanks.

change your pcv valve... sludge mainly develops when oil and fuel mixes (blowby) together in the bottom end of your engine.

also a good idea to buy an aftermarket oil catch can. its not smog illegal to install one of these as well but will help prevent sludge buildup.

Oil is supposed to be dirty when you change it. You have a lot of miles too. Honda doesn't recommend a flush, so don't do it.
-What type of oil do you use?
-Type of oil filter?
-How much oil do you burn b/w drain/refills?

I use Valvoline 5w-30, filter i guess what ever is on sale, usual Fram filter. At my last oil change i went with the Fram Tough Guard filter. I don't burn any oil at least not that i notice.

I'll probably get slapped by the pure Honda product people, but I keep four Accords on the road and all have received auto-rx treatments in the engine and the transmissions. No issues on using it on Hondas. Educate yourself on it at www.bobistheoilguy.com.

Use the best synthetic oils in the market. Make sure you replace the engine oil at regular intervals as specified by the manufacturer
