okay, i have a 01 accord i4 and today i puched my gas pedal, and speed shifted and then all of a sudden it came on.................my car only has 28000 miles on it and i hardly drive hard on my engine so i don't know, anybody got any idea why? right now i disconnected the battery and i'm waiting for the ecu to reset, hopefully it's off.

 

oh nevermind, that trick worked, i guess my ecu wasn't used to the rough driving..............

 

Well, it'll probably just come on again. The smart thing to do would have been to take it to pep boys or valvoline or some place that can diagnose check engine codes.

it'll most likely come back on. I had a check engine light. honda replaced my catalytic converter.

 

displaced oil or heavy driving can cause the check engine light to come on....

 

Low on oil especially in the VTEC engines will throw a CEL right away

 

instead of resetting it u should have had it looked into to see what code it had this way u would have a true idea of what the problem really was. probably something minor and resetting it was a good thing but u never know long term

 

true, but i feel that my car is fairly new still and i just had a check up with my oil change last week. other causes for the light to come up is if you don't twist your cap tightly:naughty: :naughty:
