Default Painting with Can paint

Okay here is what happen my rear bumper got hit by some a##hole at the supermarket (hit and run) there was a big scratch the paint cracked etc... What I did was sand it down smooth and I had some factory color paint i order sparyed it then finished off with a clear coat in a spray can also. The problem is its not shiney, its all blurry and dull. What can I do? Do i need to use some kind of finish buffing liquid? Help need advice. I may have to take it to a shop and have it professionally done. I live in S. Cal are there any good paint shops around here with good rates?

thanks in advance
Bruce

I have some 3M hand polish that I use when I paint things. It works like a champ. From everything I've read about painting, you're supposed to rub out the undercoats as well tho. I found this when I was thinking about repainting my bike...

you have to spray the last coat of paint and clear really wet, not to the point it drips. I did my side moldings and skirts and it looks like a factory finish.

water sand it with soft 2000 sand papers, gently, then apply Meguiar wax and polish on it, or NU Polish would be fine.

its never going to look like it did before. You do realize that? If you want it to look perfect, you need to get the whole bumper done. What color is your car?

You need at least 3 coats of clear, then sand with a very fine grit, then buff with a finishing polish (AKA compound) - Meguiars has good products for finishing paint.

Factory paint generally has at least 3 coats of clear on top of the color coat. If you want it to be shiny, you MUST sand it.
