Default What a PAIN in the A*$!

[start rant]

I was driving to the bank today and the car starts SMOKING!!!..I pull over and sure enough the Radiator is CRACKED at the top near the Radiator Cap....so I call a tow trucck to take it in to the dealer and when It got there I notice the Tranny Fluid is LEAKING like CRAZY!!..so now I have COOLANT and TRANNY FLUID mixed together in a puddle!..

[/end rant]

The dealer did not tell me how much it will be...

ANY IDEAS how much this thing will cost me to repair/replace?

Thanks
Mike

um...i dont think that problem is as severe as you describe. Cracked radiators can be fixed easily with a radiator patch that they sell at any automotive part store. When those patches cure up, its more durable than the original parts of the radiator. That is if you wanna go the ghetto way and patch it. But it worked wonders for my beater and still no problems. As far as the tranny fluid and coolant being mixed up, the tranny fluids enter the radiator also. ITs not only the coolant that circulates inside the radiator, but tranny fluids also circulate inside the radiator. Obviously, if radiator cracks, both fluids will leak. Id say do it yourself if u dont wanna spend over 200 for a new radiator.

That was quick guys!..thanks.

I really dont know where they are leaking from..I know that the crack is on TOP next to the CAP and the tranny just started leaking with it but not from the top..looks like its coming frm the bottom of the car..im not really sure..

you can use a good epoxy to seal up the top of the radiator... its actually plastic, so epoxy works well.

the accord store is for 5th gen (94-97) models only.

Not sure about the tranny, my moms 91 had a tranny leak once, but I forget what it was.

LOL yes, u guys. WHen my beater's radiator got a crack, i did a diy project on it for 5 days, not knowing SH*T about radiators. After patching up the radiator, i noticed red fluids along the radiator path. I started trippin and after many hrs of researching and taking parts apart, i learned that tranny fluids circulate inside the radiator too. I told this "new" discovery to the forum in accordinglydone.com and those guys werent amused at all, already knowing this. Well......im glad that i informed u guys.

What I really want is for it to get FIXED right as this car is my MAIN Commuter (180 miles/day) and I drive my son (2.5 years young) in it ALL the time...so I need this to be a VERY RELIABLE transportation.

Well..searching thru Ebay..The lowest 93 Accord Radiator will set me back less than $100.00..thats not too bad I guess and if the Tranny OIL IS coming from the Radiator leak, then Im not tooo bad of a shape!.
