Default Thinking of spoiler? Better mpgs?

i have 1998 4 door. I am thinking about putting a spoiler on there but I want to know if it gives noticeably better mpg. Spoilers 'in theory' should. I was hoping someone put a spoiler on after having a Honda for awhile and then noticed improvement.

I highly doubt it would make a difference. If it did, it would likely be too negligable to notice.

Are you sure spoilers give better mpg's? I'm pretty sure the purpose of a spoiler is to provide downward thrust to improve stability and traction. And even then, very few consumer vehicles spoilers do even that. With the exception of exotics, spoilers on most cars are only for looks.

Exactly. Adding weight reduce mpg :awais:

Default A wing will push the car down, not spoiler

A spoiler will "spoil" the air flow and reduce the drag in the back. After doing more research I found that most cars are aerodynamically designed to not need spoilers. And both spoilers and wings will do their jobs only around 100 mph and over. Here's a guy with a 99 Accord who took off his spoiler because it was reducing his mpgs, with documentation to prove it.
