I'm having a rough idle problem. The dealer called Honda and they said change the IAC to see if that fixes it. $160 and if it doesn't fix it, I still have to buy it! What a racket. Can someone tell me the location? I want to check if for carbon buildup.

It's bolted right on the bottom side of the throttle body.

Looks like item 2. And their price is $62.88 !

Now my dealer said it may be my EGR and that is under warranty. So we will try that first!

 

Curious - does the H23A have an IAC?

 

Okay, so my Honda guy gets me squeezed in today and they do the EGR stuff under warranty. I called and he said that the computer code said the IAC is at fault. Since they didn't have an IAC in stock, I picked one up near work for $100 ($20 over what my dealer sells it for over the counter). But hey, it's in stock, and I have a 3 day weekend to sort this out.

Now that I think about it, I probably caused the code when I unhooked the IAC and started it.

Here's the pisser. I pick up the car and it's running like a top again! So now I have a $100 IAC still sealed in the bag, but there is a no return policy at the dealer I picked it up at.

Oh well, I'm just happy it's fixed. And if one of you ever need an IAC for a 2001 :-)
