Hello all 7th gen owners. This goes for all I4 owners but V6 owners can also respond if u guys had experience with this. My gf's 03 ex sedan I4 makes this weird clicking rattle noise from the engine bay when idling. It is only audible when all windows are up and no music is playing. For sure, it is not a normal characteristic. Im just worried, so anyone with the same problem can describe theirs to me. THanks.

 

I experience the same on my 03 Accord EX-L. Dealer says it's normal. I really hope it is!

 

Same for the 6th Gen. From all that I have read it is very common on 4cyl cars, especially Hondas.

 

My car clicks at idle too. I was worried about it, but now I hear that so many other people click, I'm not going to worry about.

I went to the dealer the other day to fix the rattling noise on my doors (03 Coupe basic EX-4cy-man). I also complained about the 'clicking noise' on the engine bay. The technician mentioned that the noise comes from the solenoid on the emission control. It will turn at certain times. He said that Honda has released a newsletter about it. And there is nothing he can do to get rid of the noise since it is considered a normal event.

I haven't found the newsletter about the clicking noise at all. If anybody has the access or know where to find it, please let me now. Thx.

Btw, the rattling noise on my doors are coming back after a month. All those guys did was just to lubricate and grease some joints inside the doors. The next time I come back, I will want them to fix the noise for good. Even my old 96 Acura TL 2.5 had no rattling sound.
