how to reset the maintenance light???

Hmmm?? What state would the car be in if you were holding the odometer reset button and then turning the key to the on position?

It would be @ II in your ingintion which is where things begin to power up or your ecu is doing a test, you cluster lights should all appear ie: check engine, oil, door etc....
