Default Custom catback exhaust TECH question.

Im about to swap out my APEX ws exhaust with a custom APEX Dunk exhaust. Another board member is selling me the piping for 140 shipped, and it does not include a resonator. For anybody that has experience with this, how loud will the exhaust be without a resonator? (i will be keeping my stock cat)
Will this exceed the legal 93 or 96 decibel limit?? Should i not get the resonator or pay an extra 60 dollars and have him ship me the resonator too? Thanks.
Im asking this because all the aftermarket catbacks such as the greddy evo, apexi ws, etc all come with resonator in their piping.

for it to remain legal, i believe the resonator is a necessity... instead of paying $140 for the piping why not have a muffler shop do it????????

call your local muffler shops.. the majorty of them do "crush" bent piping, you don't want that. call around and ask if they do mandrel bent piping, if they do check the price.

yea, i just came back from MIDAS and they didnt even know what mandrel bent was. They said they'll bend me (crush bend) a custom 2.25 inch piping aftercat and weld onto a muffler i bring for 150, but crushed bent is no good.

if you just like the dunk muffler, keep the ws piping and weld on the dunk to the old pipes. it will be significantly louder than your stock. technically the cvc limit is 90db, but anything thats louder than stock can get u a ticket. that's why greddy doenst advertise 50 st legal anymore.

How in the world could a muffler shop not know what mandrel bent is? Wouldn't that be in Bending 101?
