VTEC, not v-tec. Variable valve Timing with lift Electronic Control. How much of a price difference are you looking at between an LX and EX? That's all it comes down to.

EX is worth, you get better suspension, 15" nice alloy wheels(94-95ex), better exhaust manifold(4-2-1), vtec motor, 5-spd version has slighty shorter gears than the lx counterpart, dual tip exhaust, sunroof, disc brakes, ABS...you get my point. if you're not racing it, don't let anyone tell you the LX is lighter...it doesn't matter when you have the goods.

For performance get the LX

Suspension is basically the same except the LX doesn't have a rear sway. But who cares? You should be changing the stock suspsension if your going H22.

The engine power makes no difference if youre really going H22.
(BTW DON'T BUY ANY F22 ENGINE MODS, MOST WILL NOT WORK ON THE H22)

The LX is lighter without the sunroof.

The LX and EX 5spd is the same.

Reasons to get the EX:

Looks better in terms of wheels, moldings, stock exhaust (most of which will be changed anyway)

Better platform if your going to stay F22.

Sunroof.

Rear Disc Brakes and ABS.

BTW why are you keeping the F22 tranny with the H22 motor? Are you going turbo? If not the F22 will take a bit longer to get into the power band and when you upshift it will be taking longer to hit the VTEC crossover which means you'll have to downshift more often. But hey you'll save on gas.

http://www.hondacars.com/certified/s...ModelYear=1997

note the final drives are the same between LX and EX and DX. I'll check my owners manual for individual gears.
