Default '99 Accord Question

I have a '99 Accord Sedan. If there is anyone that has the same car, or who just knows... Are the letters next to the autoshifter on the floor console illuminated when the headlights lights are on? Mine aren't, and I'm not sure if they ever did light up. Just never paid attention. Thanks,

Yes they are supposed to be on. Sometimes mine work and sometimes they don't. Try hitting it once or twice (lightly). That's what I do when they're not on.

That's why you go manual.

Thanks for all of the responses so far. A recent electrical problem made me wonder (console lights were out before the problem). Since mine is not working, anyone have any ideas how to repair or replace the lighting? Owner's manual had no info...or I couldn't find it.
