Default Harsh Ride

I drive my 2003 Accord LX Sedan around San Francisco. The roads here are very very bad and you can really feel the bumps, it's starting to annoy me. Do you figure the suspension will ease up a bit over time, or is this how it'll be? My car only has 500 miles on it.

Wow...if stock Accord suspension is harsh...what did you drive before? Cadillac DeVille?

I don't think it will change a lot over time. But I got my Accord a year old, so I can't really say.

I will say that I've heard the SF area has some of the worst roads around.

If it gets worse, or you think there is a problem, it's under warranty.

Yea in my ex v6 my sister complains about that alot too. I thought that it was because the stocks were stiff and she is used to her lexus with soft springs, but rolls around corners. Mine has 1000 miles on it. I really dont know about them softening up.

KYB might be the answer for you, but you have to be very selective on your choices. On some of their adjustable shocks, you can really loosen the ride up.

I don't think they make any aftermarket adjustable shocks for the 03s yet. Check the air in your tires could be low on air.

Actually if the ride is too harsh, it may still have too much air in the tires from the initial transport to the dealership. Ive heard tons of times where the dealership forgot to lower the pressures to the normal driving pressures prior to delivery.

hm........thats weird because my girlfriend's 03 Ex sedan has awesome ride quality. I thought it soaks up shocks from bumps quite nicely. Or maybe i juss think that cause im on a dropped ride. But i dont think it will get better as time goes and i dont think any option will provide better ride quality than stock set up. Like stated above, check ur tire pressure. Maybe its too high.

I had the dealer check the tire pressure, they said it was fine. But for all I know they didn't actually check it. Can anyone recommend an ACCURATE gauge? I bought a radio shack digital one and it doesn't seem to be accurate.

As far as moving from SF, well, you know, it's all about trade-offs in life. But the streets here are so bad, it's amazing. Like a 3rd world country.

have the dealer check it out and take advantage of the warranty. btw, the accord springs are quality made, but the stock struts are horrible. i would suggest possibly looking into gas shocks when they become available
