Default 1990 honda accord lx

The temperature control dial is broken and I cannot change the heat control-runs hot all the time.
The knob is fine and not broken.
What do I have to do to change this out-looks like I have to pull out the complete module/control unit or find away into the back of the unit.
Do I have to remove the dash or part of or does somebody have good details and description/even photos on how to do this replacement.
Was hoping this was a simple thing to change out?

You have to pull the trim panel off. To get the trim panel off you have to remove the console, ashtray, stereo, coin box, crusie control switch, panel dimmer, hazard switch, rear defroster switch and air vents to get to the 12 srews that hold the panel in place. The Haynes manual does a good job of helping you see where all of the screws are.

The valve is accessible in the engine bay. I would check the cable coming to this first so you can be sure the problem is within the dash.
