Default h22 vtec problem

My accord has an h22 swap in it and most of the time the vtec kicks in fine but sometimes it just wont kick in at all. Anybody got any ideas of why?

i have h22 on my 92 accord, but i dont have that problem. mayb ur vtec wire to the ECU is lose, or mayb ur oil pressure is low, check ur oil level and the oil pan for damage.

how so? and by kick in I am assuming you mean it just sounds like your engine is hurting in the top end

If the engine is cold, it won't engage.
If the engine is low on oil/has low oil pressure it won't engage.

you may have a loose wire or something as stated above

or you could be expecting an actual kick in the arse at the engagement point, which just doesn't happen
