Default MINI Muffler ?

Hey guys I was just under my car today and saw that there is a "MINI muffler" attached to the regular Muffler\exhast
I got a 6 gen 4banger
I think its a muffler looks like one...

Do you know what it does? Can i Remove it? and replace it with Piping to increase performance?

its up near the front of the car, correct? Hopefully you're not confusing the catalitic converter with another muffler... that is the semi-oval shaped thing with a heat shield just after the front pipe... should rest just after the firewall.

If its something other than that, its just a resinator... helps to quiet the exhaust a little more... taking it out wont give you any more power I dont believe, as its just a straight-through pipe... its kinda like those fart-can mufflers.

So basically, I wouldnt bother with it.

oOo.. it's the exhaust resonator. Yeah, it's about the same size as the muffler but a tad smaller right?
Bout your question, yes you can remove it and replace it with piping, but it would be louder. You are getting a new muffler or exhaust system right b/c just removing the resonator would just be pointless? I dunno it's up to you mang.
