Cover up all electrical wires, etc. with plastic bags. Make sure engine is cool. Spray engine with water. Spray degreaser all over the place. Let it sit for 5 minutes. Spray water to get degreaser off. If theres really bad spots, repeat and brush the spots with a brush or something. Dry the engine off with some towel, then turn the car on and let it idle for 2-3 minutes. Dry with towel again. Then go ahead and add plastic dressings, hose dressings, etc. etc.

Simple Green...great degreaser yet gentle.
WD40 on the hoses..looks nice and shiny.

Like they said cover the electricals and the filter. I blast with the garden hose and fire up the motor after a few moments to dry the big stuff.

I also use quik detailer on the painted surfaces...

Mothers metal polish on the ABS cylinder thing...
