Default Probelm with car idling up and down....

Here since it has become colder when I start my car it tends to rev up to about 1700-2000 rpm then drop to around 900 or so constantly. Its rather annoying.Once the car warms up it stops though. Has anyone else experienced this problem? I was thinking it may be the TPS causing it because the motor is revving that high but its not seeing that the throttle is being moved causing it to drop back down but if anyone has any info please let me know. Thanks.

I have the same problem. It also happens during the summer for me. I was told by the previous owner that it was some $50 valve job something-or-other, but i haven't done anything yet. Yeah, it does get a little annoying, and it's so loud! But when you have a nice deep exhaust, it sounds kinda cool, in a way.

I know this is for accords... but my stupid integra does that! Well it just stays up there 1700-2000rpm for about 10 mins! then it goes to bout 800... thats not normal is it?

The helm manual F23 also lists an idle set screw near the TB on the intake manifold. Perhaps you could try adjusting this set screw first.

Make sure you dont have any vaccum lines pinched or anything. That will cause a surge.

since it don't happen when it's warm out... is your antifreeze good? if it's not you may have a frozen cooling system which will cause the idle to surge.
