Power Pulleys?
they work by making it easier for the motor to turn the drivebelts. this in turn gives back the HP that was used. they indeed give only a few wheel ponies, but w/ them being colorful, they can be cosmetic. it replaces the alternator & power steering, & some Co.s swap out the crank pulley. AEM kits go for $150-175 (only 2 pulleys), Unorthodox can go as high as $300 (gives 3 pulleys).
the only problem is that sometimes there isn't enuff juice in the alternator to keep a constant flow of electricity, so sometimes the motor stutters. if you plan on running a stereo w/ even 1 amp, don't even consider pulleys.

I have never changed my alternator, I replaced my battery at 7 years of age (stock one) and replaced it with another Delco.
The pullies may cause probs on large monstrous systems, but then again cars with that kind of system aren't going anywhere quick anyway and would not need/benefit from pullies. The pullies will exacerbate probs on cars with poorly functioning/wired electrical systems.
Are they worth it? sure after you have i/h/e. the car will rev up quicker. A big plus i have experience with my pullies is definitely gas mileage improvement. I will regularly get 32 mpg on the highway despite having an automatic F22 vtec.
Will there be long term engine problems. Maybe. I really don't know who to believe about the crankshaft harmonic balancer thing (prob with crank pulley (UR) only), but I'll let you know when I have my motor torn down for a complete rebuild in a coupla years. So far no problems. If I owned a V6, I would not do an unbalanced pulley just on the simple principle that V6's have lousy properties requiring extensive work to smooth them out (why Straight 6's on bimmers are soooooooooo smoothe).

badass, dude. but i get my info straight from guys who hav them & seeing it for myself when riding w/ them. that's why i'm reconsidering buying them until i buy a higher amp Alt. steering doesn't feel any different, but thats kinda hard to judge on FWD cars inherent torque steer when i haven't felt it previously.
I have one amp and used to run the Aem alt, pulley until I got sick of my car shutting off in traffic with my accessories on. If you drive in heavy traffic and have an amp, I don't reccemend the using the alt. pulley.
When I did my swap I just reused the p/s pulley which I like cause it gives it a better feel.

NO PROBLEMS. I also know others w/o probs. I have UR pullies which tend to be better products than the AEM ones...so that may be the difference.
I'm just saying don't discredit my .first hand experience
I live in NY drive in NYC all the time. have spent enuf time idling in traffic no probs....so the fault may still lie in poor wiring, poor electrical system to begin with or that AEM pullies were being used.

I believe since UR sells the crank pulley they don't underdrive as much as AEM does. I remember reading somewhere that UR said AEM underdrives too much, to make up for not underdriving the crank pulley. So it doesn't surprise me that you have no problems.
