Hit a pot hole.. check engine light came on
I was driving down a side street and hit a pothole, well actually it was the ground coming up like this ^ covered by a metal board.
I drove over it and heard a loud hitting sound and my CHECK ENGINE light came on.. Am I in trouble???? I looked under the car and saw nothing leaking and the car runs fine and starts up no problem WHAT SHOULD I CHECK? It a lowered 96 Accord. I am resetting the ECU right now hopefully it will go away.

 

Might wanna take it to honda to see there thoughts on it...

 

They will usually run a free diagnostic test at the Honda dealer when that light comes on, hoping that if they find a problem, you will pay them to fix it.

 

I guess it depeneds on the dealership then...call and see if they will run a free one. My dealership has a diagonistics fee of $63.95

 

maybe your exhaust or headers took a shot and got dented in. take it to an independant shop or mechanic and tell them your story and ask them to put the car up on a lift, maybe the problem will be obvious. Gluck

 

That happened to me once. Got out, looked under the hood, sure enough, the engine was still there.

 

at my dealership, the fee is $89. and yea, good chance ur exhaust manifold or exhaust itself has a dent. i found a tiny hole in mines, more like a fine crack, size of a dime, cuz my friend( damn girl), hit a curb with my car, when it wasnt modded, thus, my check engine light came on, made my car run horrible. no difference in ride for the first 15,000 miles, i kno, im crazy, had a CEL that long, but i couldnt figure what it was, and took it to a few mechanics, who all gave me wrong advice, told me to change my catalytic converter lol... trying to make $1000 off me. and my o2 sensor was off, when i eventually took all that crap out, and saw my cat was fine, white and clear in there still, and my o2 was fine, it was that damn header. im dumb for not checkin there in the first place, after that loud BAMMMM, it was like a freakin accident when she hit that curb.
