Default 6.5 woofer fittin in 5th gens?

has anyone gotten mb quart 6.5 woofers to fit in the doors of the 5th gen accords? specifically non Q series woofers from mb quarts in a 96 accord lx sedan? by fitting, i mean not MUCH modifcations needed. I know you can take out the plastic basket and cut the entire back of it out, but would that be enough? or would i have to ditch the entire basket and make my own baffle? even then..would that be deep enough to avoid hitting the window? thanks

goto crutchfield, check the max depth.. and thats the basket can hold... I think u can go almost an inch past it... then obviously check the mb specs and see if its within the threshold... i just took the plastics out and jammed the speakers in snug (infinity kappas tho) and it was fine... stuck it on and it was a perfect fit

I had to cut out new speaker baffles for both my Audiobahn AS65c (those things suck) and then these Cadence CWM6 aluminum alloy cone mids in this picture.

just take out the plastic thing, trace it onto a piece of MDF, then trace out a mounting hole for the 6.5" mid; cut out the 6.5" mid's hole first, then cut out the entire baffle (traced in the shape of the plastic thing); mount the mid to the baffle, then screw the MDF into the existing holes on the door used to secure the plastic thing.

yeah, ditch the plastic!

You probably could fit it, take out the factory plastic bracket and do some custom bracket. Just make sure it clears your window and your door panel is flush... I did that to my Alpine components that didn't fit..
