Default 1990? Accord--No Spark

A friend of mine has an 89(I think, but that era anyways) accord with a 4 cylinder, that is not producing a spark. I have never dealt with these before. The wire connections were solid and the wires looked good, but when I tried to produce a spark by grounding out the plug against a motor mount and cranking it over, nothin. IT cranks just fine, and there is plenty of fuel, just no spark. I couldnt locate a coil to check the connections there, and under the distributor cap was more plastic. Any ideas on what I could check here? Again, I know engine theory pretty well, but never dealt with these. Thanks a lot.

check to see if the coil is creating a spark. if not check the wiring on the coil, then test the coil. If you still have problems, go to www.3geez.com which is a message board for 86-89 honda accords..

Like I said I couldn't find the coil. The distributor cap only had the 4 spark plug wires on it and no place for any others, and I couldn't see any other external wires or a physical coil. And it might actually be a 90 or a 91. It has the rounded rear corners and the headlights are not the flip up kind. Again, I don't know anything about these cars, so any help is appreciated, thanks.

yeah, then the coil is on the inside of the distrib. I would suggest on your friend buying a chiltons or hayes book for the car.
